U.S. Senator Katie Britt: Under Secretary Lutnick, America Means Business
Votes to confirm President Trump’s Secretary of Commerce
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today voted in support of President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the U.S. Department of Commerce, Howard Lutnick. His nomination was confirmed by a vote of 51-45.
“Hardworking Americans deserves a U.S. Secretary of Commerce who puts their economic needs first—fighting unfair trade practices and supporting families across Alabama and America. That is exactly what Howard Lutnick is going to do,” said Senator Britt. “I was proud to vote for his confirmation today. I am confident under President Trump’s leadership Secretary Lutnick will institute an America first agenda that shows the world our country means businesses and we will stand up for our people and interests.”

Senator Britt met with Lutnick in December to discuss his background and plans for the role. After the meeting, Senator Britt said, “My friend Howard Lutnick’s proven business acumen and commitment to American prosperity make him an excellent choice for Commerce Secretary . . . We had a great conversation about Alabama’s economic priorities and opportunities.”
