U.S. Senator Katie Britt Joins Colleagues in Efforts to Block Natural Gas Tax, Reduce Energy Costs, Boost U.S. Energy Production
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today voted in favor of a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval to block implementation of the Biden Administration’s Natural Gas Tax, which was passed as part of Democrats’ so-called Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
She recently joined Senator John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Representative August Pfluger (R-Texas), and a bicameral group of their Republican colleagues in introducing this resolution, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives this week. The resolution now heads to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.
“Blocking the Natural Gas Tax is an important step toward implementing President Trump’s America-first energy agenda. Along with President Trump and his incredible energy policy team, I will continue to prioritize legislation that unleashes a new era of American energy dominance and drives down costs for consumers, from families and small businesses to farmers and manufacturers,” said Senator Britt.
Senator Britt has fought to reestablish American energy independence and dominance since taking office. In addition to supporting Senator Hoeven and Representative Pfluger’s CRA in both the 118th and 119th Congresses, she recently joined Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in introducing the Natural Gas Tax Repeal Act. This legislation, which she also cosponsored last Congress, would eliminate this methane emissions fee created by the IRA.
“It’s past time to unshackle our domestic energy industry, starting with eliminating costly fees that would drive up our energy prices. I’m grateful to my colleagues’ leadership as we work to ensure affordable, reliable energy for all Americans,” Senator Britt continued.
Last month, Fox News Digital published a piece written by Senator Britt in which she highlighted the importance of dismantling the Biden Administration’s EPA red tape regime: “The costs will – as always – be passed on to the consumer, meaning energy would be more expensive for all Americans,” she stated.
She went on to commend President Donald Trump’s blueprint to reverse the stifling regulations of the past four years and unleash the power of American energy. “The nominees and appointees President Trump has chosen to power energy policy in his new administration demonstrate his commitment to fixing the problems ailing us. President Trump will lead us to morning in America once again, and my colleagues and I are ready to help make it happen,” she concluded.
