ICYMI: U.S. Senator Katie Britt Joins Sean Hannity for Town Hall with Republican Colleagues

April 10, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined Sean Hannity on Fox News to discuss Senate Republicans’ first 100 days in the 119th Congress, the state of play for budget reconciliation, and negotiations with Iran. Senator Britt joined Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) along with fellow Republican Senators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), and John Kennedy (R-La.).

Excerpts from Senator Britt’s interview are below. The full interview can be viewed here.

On Senate Republicans and President Trump’s Efforts in the 119th Congress:

“Alabama is ready for results, and that’s what they’ve gotten under President Trump. It’s been promises made, promises kept, and this is just a continuation of that. I think it’s exciting to see the progress that the President has already made on the border. You had the President, and you had Senate Republicans say, we’re going to actually secure our border, and we’re going to keep Americans safe. You’re going to see more of that in reconciliation . . .”

“. . . you’re going to see us be able to invest in our defense industry in the way that we need to. When you look at 21st-century threats that are coming, now is the time for us to modernize when you look at energy. Everyone in Alabama knows that energy affects everything. When you’re talking about the economy and prices, being able to drive down everything from the gas pump to the grocery store and everything in between unleashing American energy and creating dominance.”

“President Trump has a vision, he has a plan, and he has a will to execute, and we’re right there alongside him. And Alabamians are excited.”

Less than a month into the 119th Congress, Senator Britt’s S.5, the Laken Riley Act, became President Trump’s first bill signed into law as the 47th President of the United States. Her bipartisan legislation was the most significant immigration enforcement and border security related bill to be enacted into law in nearly three decades.

On budget reconciliation:

“Now is the time to act. This is our moment, it is a moment in time and we have got to seize it. The American people have said to us, we want results, and if we don’t move forward with this, we don’t even have an opportunity for [reconciliation] . . .”

On Trump Administration negotiations with Iran:

“President Trump understands peace through strength, that’s what we’re seeing right now, and Iran knows that. And to your point, we can never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon. We know that they will actually use it. It is not going to be for a deterrent, it will be for use.”

Today, Senator Britt voted to confirm Mike Huckabee as U.S. Ambassador to Israel. She continues to be a strong supporter of Israel and outspoken in her efforts to ensure Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon. “Iran’s continued pursuit of nuclear weapons poses a clear threat to the US, Israel, and our allies. Now more than ever, we must stand up to Iran and use every tool in our toolbox to address these threats. Peace is achieved through strength, and our resolution sends an important bipartisan message to Iran that the U.S. will not tolerate Tehran’s aggression,” she stated on her recent support of a resolution to counter and contain the threat from a nuclear-armed Iranian regime.
