U.S. Senator Katie Britt Advances $3 Million for University of North Alabama

August 2, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 2, 2024 – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) locked in $3 million to the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act for the University of North Alabama. The legislation was advanced by the Senate Appropriations Committee yesterday and now awaits consideration by the full Senate.

The University of North Alabama would use the funds secured by Senator Britt to expand their Joel R. Anderson Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Studies. The Center serves as an innovation center, where University of North Alabama students and local businesses looking to start or grow a business gain access to space, resources, and mentorship.

“The University of North Alabama is investing in their students’ future as business owners, innovators, and entrepreneurs,” said Senator Britt. “The positive impact of this funding would reach far outside the Shoals. Elevating the Joel R. Anderson Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Studies is a strategic investment into Alabama’s and America’s future—the students who will grow our economy, create good-paying jobs, and develop the products and technologies of tomorrow.”
