Votes to confirm President Trump’s OMB Director

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) released the following statement after voting to confirm Russ Vought as President Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Vought’s nomination was confirmed by a vote of 53-47.

“Director Vought brings crucial experience to the OMB, having previously served in this role under the first Trump Administration. I have long called for the need to cut reckless government spending—not only is the United States $36 trillion in debt, but we now pay more on the service of our debt than we do for our national defense. Director Vought understands this is both fiscally and morally irresponsible, and he’s committed to true systemic change. It is past time to hold Washington accountable to American taxpayers for runaway, wasteful spending that has fueled inflation and endangered our nation’s future. I am confident Director Vought is the right choice to accomplish this.”
