U.S. Senator Katie Britt: President Trump’s Order to Strengthen IVF Accessibility, Affordability Another Promise Kept
Will continue working with President Trump on Pro-Family policies, legislation
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today celebrated President Trump’s historic executive order to expand access to in vitro fertilization (IVF). President Trump’s order is the most pro-IVF executive action ever taken at the federal level.
“IVF is fundamentally pro-family, helping aspiring parents across our nation start and grow their families. I couldn’t be happier to see President Trump take this landmark step to expand access to this pathway to parenthood,” said Senator Britt. “I remain grateful for President Trump’s bold leadership on this issue. IVF will be more affordable and accessible for loving American families thanks to President Trump.”
President Trump’s executive order directs his Administration’s domestic policy team to submit policy recommendations within 90 days to address both the accessibility and affordability of IVF. The executive order states, “My Administration recognizes the importance of family formation, and as a Nation, our public policy must make it easier for loving and longing mothers and fathers to have children.”
In February 2024, President Trump after speaking with Senator Britt called on the State of Alabama to enact legislation protecting access to IVF. Alabama’s Republican-led House and Senate worked expeditiously, just days later, to get a bill to Governor Kay Ivey’s desk to be signed into law.
“President Trump is, once again, keeping his promises to the American people. I look forward to introducing legislation in the Senate advancing the Trump Administration’s pro-family agenda for the millions of Americans facing infertility who dream of building a family. Republicans will continue to fight for hardworking families and deliver real results,” Senator Britt continued.
Senator Britt has been a champion of protecting nationwide access to IVF, introducing the IVF Protection Act alongside Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in May of last year. The IVF Protection Act is the only bill introduced in the U.S. Congress that would guarantee continued IVF access and safeguard religious liberty at the same time.
Senator Britt also led every single Republican Senator last year in a joint statement reaffirming their support for continued nationwide IVF access.
