Supports swift confirmation before full Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) released the following statement after voting to advance Scott Turner, whom President Trump nominated to serve as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), out of the Senate Banking Committee. Turner’s nomination was advanced by a vote of 13-11.

“After meeting with Scott Turner and participating in his nomination hearing, I have every confidence he will not only be a tremendous asset to President Trump’s cabinet, but he will also advance commonsense solutions to make housing more affordable for Americans. He has committed to strengthen HUD programs by implementing targeted reforms while eliminating unnecessary red tape, as well as working with our Committee to ensure transparency for the American people.

“I look forward to confirming Scott as HUD Secretary and getting President Trump’s team in place quickly. I am excited to support these tremendous nominees, and, upon their confirmation, act as a partner in the Senate to deliver results for hardworking Americans.”
