U.S. Senators Katie Britt, Tommy Tuberville Secure Funding for Cleburne County Law Enforcement
WASHINGTON, D.C., September 5, 2024 – U.S. Senators Katie Britt (R-Ala.) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) jointly locked in $435,000 for the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office in the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.
This congressionally directed spending would enable Cleburne County to procure new vehicles for their law enforcement officers across multiple divisions.
“When I joined the Senate Appropriations Committee, I promised to bring Alabamians’ hard-earned dollars home. Ensuring our exemplary law enforcement officers have the best tools to protect their fellow Alabamians and themselves is a top priority for me in that effort. This $435,000 would invest in the safety of our friends, families, neighbors, and communities, and it would provide key support for our law enforcement officers across Cleburne County,” said Senator Britt.
“Our local law enforcement officials put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. Their efforts do not go unrecognized, and we want to ensure they have access to the resources needed to protect our local communities. It’s my honor to work alongside Senator Britt to fight for funding to purchase new law enforcement vehicles in Cleburne County. Alabama’s law enforcement officials can continue to count on me to look out for them,” said Senator Tuberville.
“I am very pleased and honored for Chief Deputy Nolen and me to have been able to express our concerns with equipment for the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department with Senators Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville. I could tell that our concerns with the Public Safety in Cleburne County was of very importance to Senators Britt and Tuberville. Chief Deputy Nolen and I came up with a project for our much-needed equipment concern with vehicles and presented it to Senators Britt and Tuberville, where they jumped right into action and made this project a reality,” said Cleburne County Sheriff Jonathan Daniel.
“The burden that has been lifted off of my department and the County with this funding for vehicles is huge and I know that the Cleburne County Commission and the people of Cleburne County would agree. I want to thank Senators Britt and Tuberville who helped make this project what it is today but more so a reality for my department and the impact it will have on Cleburne County,” the Sheriff continued.
As a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Britt recently voted to advance the FY25 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. The legislation now awaits consideration by the full Senate.
